I don't know why I had the proper office job, as I only ever really wanted to make pictures. I don't have too many useful talents, but I can draw really well (and am also pretty good on flat-pack furniture). It's my main way of expressing myself, and I love making something original and beautiful and funny.

Although illustration is my first best love, I've always been good with words. I enjoy writing and creating characters and stories, and have several children's book ideas buzzing round my head at the moment. However, I do like working with other people, as this has always proved a great way of generating new ideas and ways of working.

My favourite way of working is using a dip-pen and ink, but enjoy enlivening my pictures further with both traditional painting, mostly using Dr Martins (insert boot joke here, but which actually are liquid colours that come in fab little dropper bottles), and my aged but much-loved Mac.

Since September 2006, I've also had the joy of doing graphics (and the occasional illustration) for the glamorous and exciting world of film & TV, working for a prop-making company. Well less of the glam & exciting (a lot of double-sided sticky tape is involved, Blue Peter style), but it is mostly a lot of fun. It's a good stretch, as you have to be able to adapt to any style at a moment's notice, to very short deadlines, but that's part of the fun, I think...

That's enough about me, anyway. How are you?

FYI, I hold the copyright for all images on this site. Nicking my pictures is wrong, and makes me feel sad. And you don't want that on your conscience, do you now?
